Portland Daily Grain Report
Bids as of 9:30 a.m.;   Subject to change

   Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during August by rail
or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars
per cwt.  Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as
specified.  All other wheat and barley bids are for full August delivery.
Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery.

   September wheat futures in midday trading were eight to 10-1/2 cents
per bushel lower compared to Wednesdays closes.

   Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein and maximum 10.5 percent
protein, for first half August Portland delivery were not fully
established in early trading as some exporters were not issuing bids for
nearby delivery.  Bids for last half August soft white wheat were steady
to 10 cents per bushel lower in a limited test.

   Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for
August delivery were not fully established but were indicated as
generally eight cents per bushel lower in following the lower Kansas City
September wheat futures in early trading.

   Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for August
delivery were not fully established in early trading but were
indicated as 10 cents per bushel lower in lining up with the lower
Minneapolis September spring wheat futures.

   Bids for US 2 barley for August delivery were not well tested.

   Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland via single rail cars
was steady to 1-1/4 cents per cwt lower compared to Wednesdays close.
Truck delivered to the Yakima Valley trended mixed, from 1-1/4 lower to
2-1/2 cents higher per cwt.  Slightly lower September Chicago corn
futures weighed on bids.
