JO_GR110 Portland, OR Thu Jun 11, 2009 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 11:30 a.m.; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during June by rail or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. Bids for 14 percent protein dark northern spring wheat were split for June 11-20 delivery and June 21-30 delivery. All other wheat and barley bids are for full June delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. July wheat futures closed 3-1/2 cents lower to 7-1/2 cents per bushel higher compared to Wednesdays closes, with the most decline in Kansas City and the advance in Minneapolis. September spring wheat futures closed 5 cents higher than Wednesdays closes. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein and maximum 10.5 percent protein for June Portland delivery, trended steady to 10 cents per bushel lower compared to Wednesdays noon bids. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for June delivery trended steady to eight cents per bushel lower compared to Wednesdays noon bids. Lower Kansas City July wheat futures weighed on bids. Several exporters raised or lowered their basis depending on their demand for hard red winter wheat to fulfill upcoming vessel commitments. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for June delivery advanced by one to seven cents per bushel compared to Wednesdays noon bids. Bids were supported by higher Minneapolis July and September wheat futures. Several exporters have switched to over the September wheat futures. Bids for US 2 barley for June delivery were not available as exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn advanced by 8-3/4 to 10 cents per cwt compared to Wednesday noon bids due to higher Chicago June corn futures.
