JAKARTA (Dow Jones)--Crude palm oil futures on Malaysia's derivatives
exchange ended lower Monday, tracking weaker soyoil and crude oil futures in
after-hours trade, said trade participants.

  In addition, participants started speculating on the direction of local cues
ahead of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board's release of data on May exports, output
and stocks and cargo surveyors' estimates for Malaysia's June 1-10 exports due
Wednesday, with many leaning toward an increase in output amid flat or slightly
lower exports.

  The benchmark August contract on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended down
MYR60 at MYR2,460 a metric ton.

  External cues took the lead amid a still-hazy outlook on exports, output and
the end-month stock level ahead of the data release.

  By the end of BMD trade, Nymex crude oil was trading $1.01 lower at $67.43 a
barrel. Soyoil futures in after-hours trade were also down, trading around 50
points lower.

  Traders said the downward price movement of CPO was also motivated by
speculation of a slightly bearish outlook on May exports and output.

  Traders say May's output may have seen a double-digit increase of at least
10% or as high as 13%.

  In contrast, exports during May and running into June 10 are tipped to be
flat or slightly lower on month.

  Open interest in CPO on the BMD rose to 81,472 lots Monday from 77,828 lots
Friday. Traded volume fell to 16,358 lots from 16,906 lots. One lot comprises
25 tons.

  Cash palm olein for July traded at $775/ton, said a trader in Singapore.

  Cash CPO for prompt shipment was offered MYR80 lower at MYR2,500/ton.
