KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Malaysia's palm oil exports in April are likely to
be around 1.195 million tons, close to month-ago levels, trading and shipping
executives said Wednesday.
"Exports in April are likely between plus or minus 2%," said an executive at
a global trading company.
Traders said exports have succeeded in sustaining around month-ago levels
despite tight supply and difficulties being faced in meeting export
commitments.
They added export numbers could have been even higher but for the seasonally
low inventories, which were estimated in Malaysia at a 20-month low of 1.36
million tons in end-March.
Cargo surveyor Intertek Agri Services estimated March exports at 1.168
million tons. Another surveyor, SGS (Malaysia) Bhd., estimated the numbers at
1.223 million tons.
Estimates for April are likely to be issued Thursday.
