JO_GR110 Portland, OR Tue Apr 21, 2009 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 11:30 a.m.; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during April by rail or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. All other wheat and barley bids are for full April delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. July wheat futures closed 4-1/4 to 8-3/4 cents per bushel higher compared to Mondays closes. May Kansas City wheat futures closed 4-1/4 cents higher. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein, for April Portland delivery were one to five cents per bushel higher than Mondays noon bids. Bids for maximum 10.5 percent protein soft white wheat trended steady to five cents per bushel higher. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for April delivery trended four cents per bushel higher compared to Mondays noon bids in following the higher Kansas City May and July wheat futures. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for April Portland delivery trended nine cents per bushel higher. Higher Minneapolis July wheat futures were supportive to bids. Bids for US 2 barley for April delivery were not fully established as most exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland via single rail cars trended 7-1/2 to 13-3/4 cents per cwt higher than Mondays noon bids in response to the higher Chicago May corn futures and a higher basis bid by some corn traders. Corn bids truck delivered to the Yakima Valley were 7-1/2 to 8-3/4 cents higher due to the higher Chicago May and July corn futures.
