GX_GR113 Springfield, IL Tue Mar 31, 2009 USDA-IL Dept of Ag Market News Illinois Grain Prices at Country Elevators This is Tuesday's report of the grain prices and trends prepared by the USDA and the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Illinois country grain prices were sharply higher on Tuesday afternoon. Grain prices rallied in reaction to today's USDA Prospective Plantings and Quarterly Stocks reports. The USDA projected the 2009 soybean acres to total 76.0 million acres, which was well below the average trade estimate. US corn acres this year are expected to total 85.0 million acres. Illinois farmers are expected to increase corn acres to 12.2 million and decrease soybean acres to 9.1 million for the 2009 crop year. In the cash markets, trading was surprisingly slow even with the rally at the Board of Trade. In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids 15 to 18 cents higher at 3.72-3.85. Soybean bids were 47 to 48 cents higher at 9.25-9.39. In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were 18 to 19 cents higher at 3.80-3.90. Soybean bids were 46 to 47 cents higher at 9.35-9.45. In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were 17 to 20 cents higher at 3.80-3.96. Soybean bids were 44 to 47 cents higher at 9.34-9.46. Wheat bids were 26 to 27 cents higher at 4.32-4.59. Milo bids were 18 to 19 cents higher at 2.94-3.45.
