JO_GR110 Portland, OR Mon Mar 16, 2009 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 11:30 a.m.; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during March by rail or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. All other wheat and barley bids are for full March delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. May wheat futures closed 23-3/4 to 27-1/4 cents per bushel higher compared to Fridays closes. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein, for March Portland delivery were nine to 11 cents per bushel higher compared with Fridays noon bids. Bids for maximum 10.5 percent protein soft white wheat trended five to nine cents higher. White club wheat premiums were ranging from 1.50 to 2.25 per bushel over soft white wheat bids. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for March delivery were 25 to 27 cents per bushel higher due to moderately higher Kansas City May wheat futures. Some exporters lowered their basis which tempered advances somewhat. Some exporters were not issuing bids for March delivery. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for March delivery trended 22 to 24 cents per bushel higher compared to Fridays noon bids in reaction to the moderately higher Minneapolis May wheat futures. Some exporters lowered their basis which tempered advances somewhat. Bids for US 2 barley for March delivery were not fully established as most exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn ranged from five to 6-1/4 cents per cwt higher compared to Fridays noon bids in reaction to the moderately higher Chicago May corn futures.
