JO_GR110 Portland, OR Tue Mar 10, 2009 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 11:30 a.m.; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during March by rail or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. Bids for 11.5 percent protein hard red winter wheat are split for first and last half March delivery. All other wheat and barley bids are for full March delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. May wheat futures closed nine to 15 cents per bushel higher compared to Mondays closes. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein, for March Portland delivery were five cents per bushel higher than Mondays noon bids. Bids for maximum 10.5 percent protein soft white wheat trended 10 cents per bushel higher. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for March delivery were 10 to 14 cents per bushel higher. Bids were supported by the moderately higher Kansas City May wheat futures, while some exporters lowered their basis which weighed on bids. Some exporters were not issuing bids for March delivery. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for March delivery trended 13 to 15 cents per bushel higher compared to Mondays noon bids in reaction to the moderately higher Minneapolis May wheat futures, even though some exporters lowered their basis. Bids for US 2 barley for March delivery were not fully established as most exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn trended 16-1/2 to 17-1/2 cents per cwt higher than Mondays noon bids in response to higher Chicago May corn futures. Some corn traders lowered their basis which tempered advances.
