Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during September by rail or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. Bids for 11.5 percent protein hard red winter wheat were split for September 15-20 and September 21-30. All other wheat and barley bids are for full September delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. December wheat futures closed 14-3/4 to 16-1/2 cents per bushel higher compared to Mondays closes. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein and maximum 10.5 percent protein, for September Portland delivery trended one to five cents per bushel higher than Mondays noon bids, supported by higher Chicago December wheat futures. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for September delivery were 14 to 19 cents per bushel higher than Mondays noon bids in reaction to the higher Kansas City December wheat futures. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for September delivery trended 25 to 38 cents per bushel higher than Mondays noon bids. Higher Minneapolis December wheat futures and a higher basis bid by several exporters were supportive to bids. The protein scales are now 20 cents each 1/4 up from 14 to 16 percent protein, and 25 to 30 cents each 1/4 down from 14 to 12 percent protein, reflecting the generally lower protein levels in the new crop spring wheat currently being harvested in the upper Plains states. Bids for US 2 Barley for September delivery were not available as exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn trended 51-1/4 to 73-3/4 cents per cwt higher compared to Mondays noon bids. Higher Chicago December corn futures were supportive to cash corn bids.
