JO_GR110 Portland, OR Fri Sep 11, 2009 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 11:30 a.m.; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during September by rail or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. Bids for 11.5 percent protein hard red winter wheat were split for September 10, September 11-20 and September 21-30. All other wheat and barley bids are for full September delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. December wheat futures closed 4-1/4 to 9-1/2 cents per bushel higher compared to Thursdays closes. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein and maximum 10.5 percent protein, for September Portland delivery trended steady to 10 cents per bushel lower than Thursdays noon bids, pressured by light new export demand. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for September delivery were four to seven cents per bushel higher than Thursdays noon bids, supported by higher Kansas City December wheat futures. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for September delivery trended nine cents per bushel higher than Thursdays noon bids in reaction the higher Minneapolis December wheat futures. The protein scales are now 20 cents each 1/4 up from 14 to 16 percent protein, and 25 cents each 1/4 down from 14 to 12 percent protein, reflecting the generally lower protein levels in the new crop spring wheat currently being harvested in the upper Plains states. Bids for US 2 Barley for September delivery were not available as exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn trended steady to 3-3/4 cents per cwt lower compared to Thursdays noon bids due to lower Chicago September and December corn futures.
