Bids as of 9:30 a.m.;   Subject to change

   Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during September by rail
or barge, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars
per cwt.  Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as
specified.  Bids for 11.5 percent protein hard red winter wheat were
split for September 2-10, September 11-20, and September 21-30.  All
other wheat and barley bids are for full September delivery.  Bids for
corn are for 30 day delivery.

   December wheat futures in midday trading were 2-1/4 to four cents per
bushel lower compared to Tuesday closes.

   Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein and maximum 10.5 percent
protein, for September delivery were not fully established in early
trading but were indicated as steady to five cents per bushel higher
compared to Tuesday noon bids.

   Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for September
delivery were not fully established but bids were indicated as two to
nine cents per bushel lower than Tuesdays noon bids in response to the
lower Kansas City December wheat futures.

   Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring for September
delivery were not fully established in early trading but bids were
indicated mixed, from four lower to 11 cents per bushel higher.  Lower
Minneapolis December wheat futures pressured bids, while a higher basis
bid by some exporters were supportive to bids.

   Bids for US 2 barley for September delivery were not well tested.

   Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn were 2-1/2 to instances of 13-3/4 cents per
cwt lower compared to Tuesday noon bids in following the lower Chicago
September and December corn futures.
